Where we went: Braille Trail
What went wrong: So short we wanted more
What we did right: Selected something very easy for guests unaccustomed to a lot of exercise at altitude.
How you can avoid mistakes: Make sure you consider the physical fitness of everyone on the hike.
The Braille Trail is a .6 mile Nature Loop, with informational signs and a guide cable for non-sighted persons to enjoy hiking. It's also a great taste of the mountains for those unable to manage a long, strenuous hike.
The Braille Trail begins and ends in the same parking lot as the Chavez Trail and Beaver Brook Trail. |
Interpretive signs are also in Braille. |
Cross the bridge and turn left to return to the parking lot. |
The Beaver Brook Trail heads off to the right. |
A meadow with picnic tables and a restroom is also to the right. |
Benches provide rest stops along the way. |
Would we hike this trail again? Not by itself, unless under similar circumstances - an easy place to take guests.
